The musician explains that the audiences are different

Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot participated in a panel at Pollstar Live! 2018 and spoke with industry executives who questioned the band playing at a festival that features Foo Fighters in the lineup.

“Would Slipknot play with them? The answer is no, because my kids don’t want me to do that,” he reveals, “If we play alongside the Foo Fighters, we’ll gain new fans, I know that. I love that (…) But I worry about the fan who won’t go to the show because we’ll be playing with the Foo Fighters. He’ll question why we’re not playing with Nine Inch Nails.”

He goes on to say that his fans often suffer from anxiety, family and social problems, gender conflicts, and other challenges, which leads Slipknot to want to deliver a "gigantic" show.

According to Clown, Slipknot is currently in the early stages of their new album, while vocalist Corey Taylor is on tour with Stone Sour promoting their latest album, Hydrograd.
