Clown talks about the band
In an interview with NME, the Slipknot percussionist spoke about the band's plans, which released its last album ".5: The Gray Chapter" in 2014. This year, vocalist Corey Taylor's side project, Stone Sour, released the album "Hydrograd" and is currently on tour.
Shawn said the band already has 27 songs ready:
“We decided to do things differently. Our record label changed, the people who advised me left, and we're still here. We're not going to wait for Corey Taylor to say he's ready, nobody's going to wait for me to direct a movie, and that goes for any of us.”.
Every three or four months we get together and write for about thirty days. Currently we have twenty-seven songs, or twenty-eight, complete. No, not complete. That's when people start arguing because Corey Taylor isn't there, or when Jim Root wants to do other things. We as artists have to force ourselves to get together every four months and really focus on the art. We're trying to create as much art as possible.
"For the three years we toured, we wrote and recorded the whole time. We're going to get back together in September. Corey is doing his own thing with Stone Sour, and when he finishes he'll need a vacation, he's always done that. And after that he'll come back to write songs and lyrics.".
