Band announces on Facebook
According to a statement on Stone Sour's Facebook page, Slipknot will begin writing a new album. The news came on the heels of the announcement that Jim Root, Slipknot's guitarist, will not be touring with his side band in order to work with Slipknot
"It was a difficult decision, but since the fans want a new tour and Jim has responsibilities with Slipknot's songwriting, we felt this was the best decision."
In recent interviews, vocalist Corey Taylor and drummer Joey Jordison have stated that Slipknot already has a lot of material written. Slipknot's last album, "All Hope Is Gone," was released in 2008.
In place of Jim Root, Christian Martucci will play guitar on Stone Sour's tour.
