Shawn Crahan, the percussionist known as Clown, spoke about his wife's opinion regarding the new masks

Shawn “Clown” Crahan spoke in an interview with Kerrang! about the Slipknot album and masks . He said his wife didn't like the new outfits and called the album "biblical."

“I can only speak for myself, but let me tell you, this album is biblical,” he said enthusiastically. “It’s the oldest story of all. A group of people projecting different ideas. It’s a style that only the nine of us – including new members Jay Weinberg and Alex 'V-Man' – know.” As the only remaining founding member, Clown has seen all the group’s incarnations. He calls the experience a “beautiful journey” and says it’s “more intense now than in 1998.”

Regarding the masks, he explained why they change. “I get older. I get a year older every year. So fuck it, they change.” But he acknowledges that many fans, including one very close to him, don't like the changes so much; “My wife is like everyone else and likes the brilliant idea of Slipknot from 1998. It's like, fuck off, middle finger to your forehead. 'We are the Knot and we do what we want when we want,'” he said. “She's stuck on it. She asks every day: 'Are you going to wear the red jumpsuits?' 'I don't know, I have no idea!'”

“My wife doesn’t like the new masks – I want the whole world to know that,” he admits. “She didn’t get it, really. When I sewed my hair onto the mask, she liked it a little more.”
