During an interview with Billboard, Clown revealed that the album will be about the struggle between good and evil: “Or evil against good. It’s about being a human being and experiencing what you relate to in this world. This world is ugly, and it should be, and art needs to lead to greatness and beauty.”

At the end of October, Slipknot surprised fans with the release of the single "All Out Life ," their first new song since the 2014 album .5: The Gray Chapter . In a recent tweet , Corey Taylor announced that the band will enter the studio in January 2019 to begin recording their new album.
