Metallica their tour after vocalist James Hetfield was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic . Following the news, Slipknot released a statement expressing solidarity with the band, with whom they were scheduled to tour Australia and New Zealand in October and November.
"To our fans in Australia and New Zealand, we recently learned of the tour postponement and are working as quickly as possible to determine the next steps. We will inform you as soon as possible. Of course, our thoughts are with James and Metallica, and we wish them only the best. We hope to see you soon," says the Slipknot statement.
Metallica had already spoken about the incident when they apologized to fans: “As most of you probably know, our brother James has struggled with addiction for many years. Now he has, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.”
As of now, Metallica's shows in Brazil in 2020 – Porto Alegre (April 21), Curitiba (April 23), São Paulo (April 25) and Belo Horizonte (April 27) – remain confirmed.
