Slipknot: “New album will be evil and ridiculous,” says Corey Taylor.

He described the new album as a dark and evil ride.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has spoken about the band's upcoming sixth album. Describing the new songs as evil, he said the next record "will be ridiculous. Let's just say that."

According to Taylor, the single “All Out Life” is “nowhere near as dark and visceral as what we’re working on now.” He said he wrote the song because he wanted to use art to analyze something he believes in.

“People are very angry about the wrong things and not angry enough about the right things,” he explained. “Music sets the tone for people to stand up and say, ‘We’re not going to allow this. We’re not going to let people run over us because of religious beliefs. Because of the color of our skin, because of what we believe in. Because of who we choose to love.’ All those things. Nobody’s doing that, man. Everyone’s too worried about their wallets, about their paychecks.”

Part of the new album will also deal with Corey Taylor's depression.

“All I was doing was giving. I realized I was completely exploited,” he said. “You could see it on my face. In my eyes. That’s the journey I want to take people on with this album… To show how depression happens when you don’t have medication to lean on. It’s a pretty dark ride.”
