The mysterious Slipknot gave his first interview since joining the band. The interview took place on the official PlayStation YouTube channel to promote their partnership with the game Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance .

Alongside Shawn “Clown” Crahan and new drummer Eloy Casagrande , fans can hear Mr. Samples – as he has been called since joining the band in June 2023 to replace Craig Jones – speaking for the first time. In the interview video, he is referred to as “New Guy”.

“I think anyone who’s listened to Slipknot over the years or seen them, [knows that] there’s an obvious darkness,” he said (transcript via Loudwire ). “It’s just weird, you know? When you wear it [the mask], you have the chance to really be someone – an alter ego. I think it reflects a great opportunity to be able to unleash the beast, and it’s a great experience. I feel like it’s an amplified version of me, but maybe if I went out and looked at myself, I might notice a different personality.”

Clown and Casagrande also spoke about what Slipknot's masks mean to them and their art. "We have the bad side, we have the demons inside us, we have the gods inside us," added the drummer. "You just need to maintain the balance, and that's what Slipknot is about."

While Slipknot has not revealed the identity of the group's new keyboardist, Eloy Casagrande was quickly introduced to fans in April of this year, shortly after his first performance with the new lineup.
