Slipknot: Bassist Paul Gray's family reaches agreement with doctor and hospital

The family initiated legal proceedings following the bassist's death

Paul Gray, bassist for Slipknot, passed away in May 2010 at the age of 38 after suffering an overdose. Almost a decade later, his family can finally rest from legal troubles.

Since his death, his family had been suing his personal physician, Dr. Daniel Baldi, and the UnityPoint-Des Moines hospital for incorrect prescriptions and treatments. According to them, the bassist had access to a large quantity of medication which ultimately resulted in an overdose.

Brenna Gray, Paul's widow, testified in court that the doctor prescribed Xanax for the bassist, knowing he was addicted to drugs. She also revealed that the musician agreed to seek help just one day before he passed away.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of his daughter, who was only three months old at the time, and the trial was scheduled to take place in the coming days, but a settlement was eventually reached.

According to the Des Moines Register , the details of the agreement were not revealed.

Paul Gray was found dead in a hotel room surrounded by a variety of medications. An autopsy revealed that the musician died from a morphine overdose and showed that he had a heart condition.
