Slipknot performed at the annual Rock am Ring last Saturday, June 7th, at the Nürburgring in Germany.

In a powerful show for 90,000 people, the Iowa band was without Shawn “Clown” Crahan . The founding member and percussionist was absent from all performances of the European tour due to a family emergency.

Shortly after the start of the show, vocalist Corey Taylor pointed out Clown's absence, stating that personal responsibilities prevented him from traveling [transcription via Metal Sucks ]:

“First and foremost, you can obviously see that we’re missing one of our brothers. Unfortunately, Clown can’t be here; he’s at home taking care of his family. He desperately wanted to be here, but send your regards from America. Make some noise for Clown. We’re here to make up for it. And, by God, we will.”

In a 14-song setlist, the band focused primarily on their self-titled debut album from 1999. However, they also included “Nero Forte” and “Unsainted” from the album We Are Not Your Kind (2019), “Gematria (The Killing Name)” and “Psychosocial” from All Hope Is Gone (2008), and “People = Shit” and “The Heretic Anthem” from the acclaimed IOWA (2001).

Slipknot continues their tour of summer festivals in Europe. Currently, there is little information on whether Shawn Crahan will join them for the remainder of the tour.
