Slipknot protests against North Carolina's anti-LGBT law before show

Check out the band's statement

Slipknot assigned at birth, a move that has angered transgender people.

Several bands and acts have canceled their shows in the state since the law was passed, including Cirque du Soleil, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, and Pearl Jam.

Rob Halford praises metalheads who come out as gay.

Slipknot, who have a show scheduled in Charlotte, Texas on the 2nd, have announced that they will not cancel the show, but want to make their position clear. See the statement below:

"When we started this tour, we had reservations about playing in North Carolina because of a recent law called HB2. The law infringes on the rights of LGBTQ people and doesn't allow cities to control the minimum wage.".

We believe that regardless of who you are, or what you believe in this country – and in your Metal community – everyone should have the right to and access to equal opportunities in life. This law is a slap in the face to these values.

We believe that regardless of who you are or who you love, you shouldn't be a victim of hate at home or in your community. Our fans in North Carolina deserve better, so we decided not to cancel. We don't care where you pee – just please flush. It's that simple, really.

We decided to partner with Equality NC, the LGBTQ rights group leading the fight against this terrible law. You can talk to Equality NC on our show about how to get involved and register to vote in North Carolina. That way we won't have to talk about it the next time we're here. We're going to North Carolina to show our fans that they can make a difference in rejecting this law and returning their state to a place that welcomes everyone and values differences.”
