Slipknot released a statement regarding the death of Joey Jordison , former drummer and founding member of the band. The news of his passing was released last Tuesday, the 27th, and the band has been inactive on social media since then , but had not yet made an official statement.

Joey Jordison ’s art, talent, and spirit could not be contained or slowed down,” the band wrote. “His impact on Slipknot, on our lives, and on the music he loved, is immeasurable. Without him, we wouldn’t exist. We mourn this loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey.”

In the nearly 10-minute tribute video, the band compiled footage of the drummer on stage, during interviews from his time with Slipknot, and also some images from his personal archive, including home gatherings, rehearsals dating back to 2001, and photos with the group.

Shortly before the band made the announcement, Alicia , wife of lead singer Corey Taylor , posted that the news was "devastating" for the couple. "My focus has been on supporting my husband and dedicating myself to my family," she posted .

The cause of Joey Jordison has not yet been released. The statement released by his family only indicated that the musician passed away "in his sleep." The funeral was held privately.
