"But everything has to turn out the right way in the Slipknot story."
Corey Taylor, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Jim Root , and Sid Wilson recorded a side project while Slipknot prepared their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone (2008).
The news was revealed by the percussionist and co-founder of the band Clown during an interview with Metal Hammer . According to him, the members of Slipknot took advantage of the breaks during the album's recording to create a different project.
“There’s a collection of songs that were recorded. Eleven, I think, I kept them for 10 years because it didn’t make sense to release them yet,” he said, “Is it Slipknot? No, it’s not Slipknot. Are they four members of Slipknot? Yes. They are four members of Slipknot. Are these songs being written at the same time as All Hope Is Gone ? Absolutely.”
“I’m not going to release music to annoy people, we do things the right way around here (…) We spend time creating, we work every day, we mix the songs, we master them, there’s an art to it. It’s wonderful material. But everything has to come out the right way in the Slipknot story.”
Slipknot's last album, .5: The Gray Chapter , was released in 2014, and fans can expect a new album in 2019. The first single has already been released by the band.
