Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has teamed up with Japanese artist Solid Blackline to create a new mask made especially for the band's two shows at Knotfest Japan , which takes place this weekend.
This year's festival lineup features Slipknot as headliners on both weekends, along with a mix of international and Japanese bands.
In an Instagram post, Jay Weinberg gave more details about the design of the exclusive mask: “It’s an honor to collaborate with Japanese painter Solid Blackline for this weekend’s mask, created especially for Knotfest Japan. The organic and fluid forms of his high-contrast designs evoke feelings of mysticism and beauty, balanced with the duality of chaos and order that an individual feels in this wonderful country.”
“There is no better way to further immerse ourselves in everything that Knotfest Japan represents – sharing our love for Japan and its rich artistic culture – than by welcoming local talent through collaboration and our own expression through this weekend’s performances,” he concluded.
