Shawn “Clown” Crahanof Slipknothas revealed that he will need to undergo heart surgery to correct a cardiac arrhythmia.

The 56-year-old percussionist spoke about the problem during an appearance on the Tetragrammaton. According to Clown, the symptoms began after the band's last tour in 2025, and when he sought medical attention because he wasn't feeling well, he discovered the condition [transcription via

“I have cardiac arrhythmia and I need to have surgery. I found this out after my last tour. I arrived at the hospital feeling unwell, and the nurse tried to do an electrocardiogram on me, but she couldn't. I kind of fell asleep and woke up. I asked, 'Are you going to be able to do this?' And she replied, 'Oh, it's not working.' They thought I was having a heart attack. Anyway, my heart races. This hasn't happened since I've been here with you guys, which is good, because I go from 'on' to simply feeling like I'm dying,” he explained.

Despite the scare, Clown said the procedure will be relatively simple. According to doctors, the surgery should correct a problem related to the heart's electrical system. A quick recovery is expected.

“Usually you get discharged the same day. It’s not like they force you open. It has to do with electricity. But, at first, they thought maybe I needed a pacemaker. And I said, ‘Doctor, listen, I get a pacemaker. It’s over for me, right? Tours, Slipknot?’ Then he said, ‘Oh, no. You’ll feel better. You better get in shape because you have to do more now, at 56 years old.’ And I just can’t believe that was me. It’s wonderful. I’m a lucky guy,” said Clown.
