After much anticipation, Slipknot has finally announced their new studio album. The group's seventh album is called The End, So Far and is scheduled for release on September 30th.
To accompany the announcement, the band also released the new single "The Dying Song (Time to Sing)," which came with a music video directed by percussionist and co-founder Clown .
Slipknot has been teasing the arrival of their new album for almost a year. In previous interviews, the band had commented that the album should showcase a "more experimental" of their music, as well as contain "the heaviest blues song in the world," according to Jay Weinberg .
The drummer also promised a surprise, saying that vocalist Corey Taylor created a completely new voice for this project. Percussionist Clown had also previously stated that he allowed himself to be "very creative" during the songwriting process for the album, which we now know is called The End, So Far .
Before the official album announcement, the band had already released the single " The Chapeltown Rag " and revealed the new masks – which have been used on stage for a few months now.
