Slipknot bassist Alessandro “Vman” Venturella said he already suspected his identity would be revealed in advance because of the tattoos on his hands.

The musician commented in an interview with Heavy (via Blabbermouth ) about whether things got complicated with the band after the revelation: “Oh, no. There was no problem. It was funny, because I remember saying, 'Should I put on some black gloves or something?' and they were like, 'Oh, nobody will find out'."

“And I was like, ‘Okay.’ I’ve worked for some high-profile bands. If it’s not going to be said by a fan, it’s going to be said by someone in a technical position or someone from another band saying, ‘Oh, it’s fucking Vman…It’s Vman’s tattoo.’ I mean, once you’ve seen my tattoos, it’s pretty obvious who it is.”

“And there was also a good six-month period where I just disappeared off the face of the planet. And I was getting messages. I couldn’t tell anyone what I was doing. I was like, ‘I’m just out for the moment.’ I guess it kind of fell into place pretty quickly.”

The revelation in question happened in 2014, the year he joined the group. During the promotion of the band's fifth album , .5: The Gray Chapter (2014), and the first featuring Vman, the music video for "The Devil in I" was released. However, the bassist's distinctive tattoo on his left hand gave away his identity when noticed by fans. In this way, he was discovered even before being announced as a member. The video can be seen at the end of this article.

Alessandro Venturella's history with Slipknot began with the death of the original bassist, Paul Gray , in 2010. Gray was a sound engineer and was working for Mastodon when his friend and guitarist Jim Root called him asking if he knew any bass players. Upon learning what it was about, Vman immediately volunteered for the position in the band and offered to learn the instrument.

Since then, she has also been a part of the group's most recent albums, We Are Not Your Kind (2019) and The End, So Far (2022).
