Slash is on tour to promote his fourth album with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators . On the very first night back on stage with his solo project, the guitarist included a cover of Elton John in the setlist – and left out songs from Guns N' Roses .
The performance took place last Tuesday, the 8th, in Portland, United States. “It’s going to be the first time we play this song live. We recorded it for a movie a few years ago, which came out during the COVID [pandemic],” explained Slash before playing the track. “We did this version for a friend’s movie where he jumped the Snake River Canyon. We’re going to perform it because we were dying to play it. It’s quite different for us, too.”
The film in question is the documentary Stuntman , about the career of Eddie Braun, a renowned Hollywood stuntman. Originally released in 2018, the film was added to the Disney+ catalog last year. Watch the trailer here .
In addition to the Elton John cover, the setlist also featured the return of SMKC songs that hadn't been played in over five years, such as "Shots Fired," "No More Heroes," and "Bad Rain" from the album Apocalyptic Love (2012), and "Withered Delilah" from the album World On Fire (2014). From the new album, the band only presented the singles, something that may change with the release of 4 this Friday, the 11th. The guitarist also performed a cover of "Always On The Run" by Lenny Kravitz , while the Guns N' Roses covers finally left the group's setlist for good.
