He also reveals that seeing him by his side is "very surreal"

Guitarist Slash spoke with Nikki Sixx on his radio show Sixx Sense about the Guns N' Roses reunion and the first time he met Axl Rose after 20 years.

"After so much time, there were many bad feelings from the separation during those 20 years. But there's also a part that's like a marriage, where you love someone and that feeling persists, but there are many negative things happening at the same time."

He reveals that the first time he spoke to Axl after leaving the band was in 2015: “It was on the phone, and when I returned to the city we met. I was in Peru, I remember it in detail. It was very cathartic when we saw each other in person. Because there’s a bond that was never broken.”

Slash also recalls the first show they did together. The performance took place on April 1, 2016 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, California. He says it was "absurdly fantastic and exceeded expectations " and that seeing Axl next to him on stage is "very surreal even today".
