Izzy Stradlin , former guitarist and co-founder of Guns N' Roses , left the band shortly after the release of the double album Use Your Illusion (1991) due to creative and lifestyle differences. In a recent interview with Classic Rock , Slash confessed to some "resentment" towards his former colleague for the decision.

“Back then, the fact that he left wasn’t a problem. There was no judgment about any of that. I don’t think anyone judged anyone’s behavior, just whether they could show up and do the show,” Slash said in the new interview (via LouderSound ).

As Ultimate Classic Rock , Stradlin explained after leaving the band that tensions grew due to a lack of creative equality with Axl Rose and drug abuse by the other members. According to Slash, the biggest problem with Izzy Stradlin's departure was his view of his bandmates, as if he considered them somehow doomed.

“I was resentful on that trip about Izzy leaving, because whatever happened to him that forced that sudden change, I was like, ‘Man, I died eighteen times before this! This didn’t bother me!’” the guitarist continued. “But when he left, he was looking at us and saying, ‘These guys are going to die!’”

That kind of look bothered Slash. “Don’t worry, fuck off. I’ll manage. So there was a certain kind of resentment there – of not understanding or appreciating Izzy’s motives. In retrospect, I still feel the same way, I think, about it. Like, don’t worry about me,” he concluded.
