Skid Row announced on their social media accounts this Wednesday, the 27th, that vocalist Erik Grönwall is no longer part of the band.
In the statement, the band explains that the departure was "amicable," due to issues related to the musician's health recovery, as he underwent treatment for leukemia.
Skid Row wished the vocalist well and announced that they will be releasing a live album, with more information coming soon.
For the remaining dates of the current tour, the band invited Lzzy Hale from Halestorm .
Words of Grönwall
“I had the opportunity to join this incredible band six months after my leukemia treatment. And a month after that, I was on a world tour with Skid F*** Row. Wow! It was a dream come true.”
“However, it has been a challenge to travel the world with a weakened immune system, a result of my bone marrow transplant. I respect and understand that Skid Row is a touring band, but since I cannot prioritize my health while being in the band, I have decided it is best to step away.”
He continues: “I love Skid Row, I have nothing but respect for the guys in the band, but I love and respect my health even more. I’m getting stronger and healthier every day, but after consulting my doctor, I need more time to recover, which I can’t do as the lead singer of Skid Row.”
“That’s why I made the difficult decision to move on. I want to thank the guys for this incredible opportunity. And I want to thank all the Skid Row fans who accepted me as the vocalist of this iconic band. Health first and foremost!”, he concluded.
