Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk acquired at auction the original skateboard painted by Kurt Cobain with artwork from Iron Maiden 's 1981 album, Killers . Now, the skater will sell limited edition replicas of the model.

In a video posted on his social media, Tony Hawk travels to Seattle looking for Cameron Ross , the first owner of the iconic skateboard and Kurt's friend. Regarding the origin of the painting, he explains that it was done in 1985 and the Iron Maiden illustration was his request.

“I got this skateboard when I was in elementary school and Kurt had placed an ad in Rosevears Music. He put up a flyer offering to do art. So I gave him 20 dollars and some weed and he painted it for me,” Hawk says in the video posted.

On Tony Hawk's website, prints and stickers are for sale, as well as skateboards with replicas of the illustration drawn by Kurt Cobain – these for the price of $420. The proceeds will go to the Jef – an NGO focused on mental health and suicide prevention among young adults and teenagers – and The Skate Park , which is dedicated to creating public skate parks in locations where they do not exist or are inadequate.

The skateboard deck painted by Kurt was an original one belonging to skateboarder Jeff Phillips , who committed suicide in 1993. This is the origin of the Jeff Foundation.
