As everyone already knows, with the new Wikimetal website (also known as the Disneyland of Metal) came this section of texts from the Wikibrothers. What not everyone knows is that initially they were going to be separated into different categories, and one of them was going to be "Six reasons for…", paying homage to the great The Number of the Beast (666).
That's why there are so many articles with "6 reasons for something," because they had already been written when that category was conceived. This article here, however, is new, but I decided to limit myself to the number 6 anyway, otherwise it would be too easy to make an endless list of shows I still want to see someday. Here they are:
1. Dream Theater
With so much Dream Theater appearing on Wikimetal lately, and being one of my favorite bands (if not *the* favorite), it couldn't be left out of the list. I know they've come to Brazil a few times, but there's always some obstacle preventing me from seeing them live. But Dream Theater, watch out, they won't escape me forever. It's just a shame that Portnoy, one of my favorite musicians, is no longer with them, but it's still well worth the ticket.
2. Manowar
Everyone knows what Manowar is like: pure Metal, strength, glory, and power. Seeing all that live must be really cool, an immersion in the music and the world they portray in their various lyrics. Manowar is a true icon of Heavy Metal, and although many people think they're a joke, I disagree and say without fear that I'm a fan of the band. And for those who have seen a video circulating around, they know that many people consider Manowar to be everything, everything, everything.
3. Blind Guardian
Even though they're not one of my favorite bands, I know some of their songs and I like them a lot. I've bought tickets for their shows twice, and both were canceled (one of the tickets is probably still somewhere in my house). It's really bad luck, but I'm not giving up. But my biggest motivation is witnessing the whole audience singing "The Bard's Song" and singing along; it must be an incredible experience. There's a really good video showing it; it's breathtaking:
And since Wikimetal is also about information, here's a fun fact: the band used to be called Lucifer's Heritage, but they changed their name to avoid confusion.
4. Slayer: A
Slayer show must be one of those that leaves you exhausted and with a cleansed soul. I think it's impossible to keep your heart at a normal rhythm; it must beat close to the speed of the double bass drum. Of this list of bands, it's the one I have the best chance of seeing for now, because of the tour in November, but there's always the problem of it being far from home, which requires even more effort, time, and money. But who knows, maybe it'll work out this year. It's one of the bands whose live performances I've heard the most good things about; it must be a really heavy show.
5. Helloween
This one comes from my beginnings in the world of Metal. I listened to a lot of melodic/power metal, and this German band is simply one of the creators of the genre and one of the best to this day in my opinion. Regardless of the lineup, the guys are always great and have masterpieces throughout their career. I'm waiting for the next opportunity.
6. AC/DC
Moving away from Metal for a bit, but by no means less important, we have a classic band that has marked many generations, and as far as I remember, holds the record for the most accurate answer to the classic Wikimetal question. Lots of great music and one of Rock's most iconic guitarists on stage – it can't go wrong. Probably even my dad would want to go to this show.
The number of bands I still want to see live is much greater than that, and if I were to choose six next week, I probably would have chosen different names. The important thing is to decrease the number of "bands I want to see" and increase the number of "bands I've already seen"; with time I'll change that situation. Cheers!
