The German band Scorpions was founded in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker . Along with his brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine , the band released their first album, Lonesome Crow .
Michael Schenker soon left the band to join UFO , and Uli Roth took his place. The band began its most commercially successful phase with its sixth album Lovedrive , released in 1979, shortly after guitarist Matthias Jabs place of Roth. Lovedrive is generally cited as the peak of Scorpions' career, and was followed by other major hits such as 1980's Animal Magnetism Blackout . With their 1984 album, Love At First Sting , Scorpions achieved international fame with the hit "Rock You Like A Hurricane".
Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine are the only members present throughout the band's entire discography, which consists of 17 studio albums. Scorpions is one of the most successful bands in album sales of all time, with over 75 million worldwide sales.
