Vocalist speaks about racist chant

Vocalist Phil Anselmo released a video this weekend apologizing for his actions at the last Dimebash, where he made a Nazi salute and shouted "White Power ," a slogan of the white supremacist movement.

After the original video, filmed by a fan, was published on the 27th, Anselmo posted a comment saying "there will be no apology from me," arguing that the scream was just a joke. Since then, the video has surpassed 600,000 views in less than a week and has generated criticism from artists and journalists in the industry.

Here is Anselmo's statement, published on the 30th, and the video:

“Philip H. Anselmo speaking, and I’m basically here to respond to all the tension I’m experiencing, which I completely deserve. I was at Dimebash, and it was extremely late at night. There was a lot of heavy talking between me and the people who love Dime. And heavy feelings were swirling around, jokes were made backstage that ended up spilling over onto the stage, and it was ugly and gratuitous. And anyone who knows me and knows my true nature knows that I don’t believe in any of that. I don’t want to be part of any group, I’m an individual, and… I 100% apologize to anyone who felt offended by what I said, because you should feel offended. I’m sorry, and I hope you… Man, just give me one more chance to… Just give me one more chance. I love you all, and anyone who knows me knows that I love you all. Cheers.”

Because Phil Anselmo's explosion of white power cannot be ignored
