The band won for best Metal performance.
Megadeth won their first Grammy yesterday at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The band won the award for 'Best Metal Performance' for the title track from their latest album, "Dystopia". In the video below, you can see that when announcing Megadeth's win, the Grammys played Metallica's "Master of Puppets
Megadeth beat out Baroness, nominated for Shock Me , Gojira with Silvera , Korn with Rotting In Vain , and Periphery with The Price is Wrong .
This was Megadeth's 12th Grammy nomination, but the band had never won. Mustaine thanked Jesus Christ, his wife, and his children. Later on Twitter, Mustaine commented on the gaffe .
The Grammys failed again with Metal last night, during Metallica's performance with Lady Gaga. James Hetfield's microphone malfunctioned , forcing the vocalist to sing into the same microphone as Gaga.
