The final list will be announced tomorrow.
In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice commented on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . The band is nominated this year and could be among the 5 chosen by the institution, which will be announced tomorrow (the 17th).
According to Paice, Deep Purple has some reservations regarding the nomination: “Well, but who would they introduce? This band has had so many members that even if they say it will only be the core members, who would they be?”
He continues: “You also have to keep in mind the fact that if certain people are introduced together, it could end in a fight. It’s no surprise to anyone that some current and former band members don’t get along very well. Personally, I think it would be better if they invited us individually. That would avoid the problem.”
Paice also considers the possibility of a live performance on awards night: “Again, who would play? You’d have the same complication. This guy doesn’t play with this other guy. It could turn into a mess.”
Deep Purple competes with Nine Inch Nails, Yes, Cheap Trick, The Cars, Steve Miller, Chicago, Los Lobos, Janet Jackson, NWA, The Smiths, Chaka Khan, Chic, The JBs and the Spinners.
