Glen Matlock is interviewed on Wikimetal.

In an episode of Wikimetal, Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock gave his opinion on the importance of Punk Rock. According to the musician, the style brought simplicity back to music: "Punk emerged because people got fed up with what came before."

Without sparing the Progressive Rock bands that came before, the bassist explains that the Punk Rock movement was necessary: “What we did was simplify the music again. Rock should be simple and easy, and it had become too sophisticated with bands like Yes and Genesis that were rubbish. They dragged out the music because they had nothing to talk about. And we had something to talk about, there were things that needed to be said.”

Regarding punk today, Glen is not optimistic: "Today what matters is not the quality of the artist, but how good the agent is."
