Band cancels tour plans

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford said the band feels abandoned by its leader, Steven Tyler, since the vocalist launched his country music career. According to Whitford, Aerosmith will not tour in 2016 because of Tyler's new career.

“Steven doesn’t want to do it. It’s a shame. We feel a bit abandoned by him. I think he thinks his solo career is going to be a huge success and he doesn’t seem to realize that – in my opinion – fans all over the world want to see him in the context of Aerosmith, and they don’t care what else he does. I don’t know if he understands that, but, hey, that’s what he wants. I can’t put a gun to his head. It’s just really disappointing,” said Whitford.

In June, Steven Tyler commented in an interview that the band wasn't happy with his side project: “I'm sure they're not happy. But Joe [Perry] has already done five solo albums. It's my turn now.”

Steven Tyler's new album is being recorded in Nashville and will be released in 2016. The first single, " Love Is Your Name," was released in June and can be heard below.
