Ancesttral consists of Alexandre Grunheidt (vocals and guitar), Denis Grunheidt (drums), Leonardo Brito (guitar), and Renato Canonico (bass). Formed in 2005, the group made its debut that same year with the EP "Helleluiah". Due to the positive reception of the material, the band began working on their debut album, "The Famous Unknown", released in 2007 by the label Voice Music. A packed schedule of shows and favorable reviews in Brazil and abroad have elevated Ancesttral's name in the Brazilian music scene. This was confirmed by winning several awards in the 2007 Best of 2007 awards. |

Musically, the references come from names like Metallica and White Zombie, but, due to the background of its musicians, it also follows the school of Thrash Metal practiced in the late 1980s and early 1990s, such as Fight, Testament, Megadeth, and Slayer. However, the group has been adding new elements to the sound, both from Traditional Heavy Metal bands and more contemporary ones, in the vein of Godsmack and Disturbed.
Using double entendres cleverly and skillfully, the group says what some people think but don't have the courage to say. The lyrics, depicting everyday issues, firmly attack hypocrisy and false moralism.
Ancesttral, who already have the CD “The Famous Unknown” (2007) and the EP “Bloodshed and Violence” (2012) available, promises the release of their second CD, “Web of Lies,” in 2015.
