The death metal band Sinsaenum, formed by Joey Jordison, released a statement honoring and mourning the sudden death of their drummer , the cause of which has not yet been disclosed.
The statement was released on the band's social media with a photo of Jordison and the following message: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and brother Joey Jordison. He was, of course, one of the most influential drummers in the genre, completely rewriting the metal drumming game, and it was truly an honor to share even a small part of that with him. He brought something to the table that no other musician could, and his love and passion for music were unmatched in a world of jaded artists.”
In addition to citing the qualities of the Slipknot drummer , the group said that Joey "also had his demons" and that they did everything they could to help him.
“Joey also had his demons, and nothing hurts more than knowing that we did everything in our power to help and couldn’t reach him. He never felt superior to anyone and would do anything to put everyone and everything above his own needs.”
They continued: “Our deepest sympathies go out to Amanda [Joey's ex-girlfriend], to his family, and to the true friends who were supporting him. And to all our fans and friends who have reached out to us during this time of grief, thank you.”
“All things considered, moving forward will be difficult at first, especially since we had already started writing the new album, but we will persevere and honor his legacy in everything we do from now on. This next album will be dedicated to his memory, as that is what Joey would have wanted.”
The group concluded by saying, "Greetings and horns, as Joey would say. We miss you Jsaenum, and we will love you forever."
Joey Jordison formed Sinsaenum a few years after leaving Slipknot . The lineup features Attila Csihar and Sean Zatorsky on vocals, Frédéric Leclercq and Stéphane Buriez on guitars, and Heimoth on bass. Jordison recorded two albums and three EPs with the group.
