The group was scheduled to perform in Malaysia but was prevented from doing so by the country's church council

A Singaporean black metal band called Devouror had a show in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, cancelled after complaints from the church.

The group, which released its EP Slay For Satan in January, was scheduled to perform for the first time this Sunday, the 21st, Easter Sunday. However, the show's organizers were forced to cancel the date.

“The cancellation of this event is a setback not only financially speaking, but it is also denying a performance to fans of extreme and heavy music,” Goatlordth Records said on their social media when announcing the cancellation.

The record label even compares the interest in the musical genre to horror movies. "Many heavy metal fans are also religious, and judging them for that is awful."

The complaints came from the Malaysian council of churches, which claimed that the band "takes pride in its anti-Christian and pro-Satan lyrics.".
