Simone Simons talks about Epica's new album.

Epica had 27 songs written.

Epica vocalist Simone Simons spoke about Epica's new album "The Holographic Principle" in an interview with Metal Rules. Check out her answers:

“It’s not a concept album in the sense that it’s not a story in chronological order with a beginning, middle and end (…) “The Holographic Principle” is the idea that we are living in a hologram. With the advancement of technology and the creation of virtual reality glasses being perfected, making it difficult to distinguish reality from virtual reality, could reality be a hologram?”

Regarding the album's production, Simone says the band had many more songs composed: “In terms of production, we went a step further because we recorded more instruments and had a good budget. We spent almost five months in the studio recording. The songwriting process lasted about a year. We had 27 songs when we finished. And then we narrowed it down to 18 that we recorded and mixed. Twelve made it onto the CD, and the other six are patiently waiting to be released.”

Epica's new album will be released on September 30th.
