Iron Maiden's Simon Dawson thanks fans for their support on his debut tour with the band

A new drummer replaced Nicko McBrain last December

Iron Maiden concluded the first leg of their 50th anniversary tour, the Run For Your Lives  Tour , last Saturday, the 2nd, with a show at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, which brought together approximately 55,000 people.

The tour, which began on May 27 in Budapest, Hungary, and ended on August 2 in Warsaw, Poland, marked the British band's first series of shows with new drummer Simon Dawson , who replaced the group's longtime drummer, Nicko McBrain , last December.

The band also released a video thanking the fans, where Simon said:

“What can I say? It was an incredible tour. Obviously, my first tour with Maiden. I mean, I can’t express how grateful I am for the support I received from the fans. You guys were absolutely amazing to me. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Iron Maiden officially announced via their social media on December 8, 2024, that Simon Dawson, drummer of British Lion , would be the band's newest member.

In 2026, the tour will continue to the rest of the world. Dates and venues for the Americas, Asia, and Oceania are expected to be announced soon.

Nicko McBrain's retirement from performing with Iron Maiden.

Nicko's decision came during Iron Maiden's tour in Brazil. The band's last show took place at Allianz Parque on December 7th.

"After much consideration, it is with sadness and also joy that I announce my decision to step away from the extensive touring lifestyle. Today, Saturday, December 7th in São Paulo, will be my last show with Iron Maiden. I wish the band success in their future endeavors," the drummer wrote at the time, in a statement published on social media .

As the drummer clarified, he continues not only working with Maiden on "various other projects," but also on a variety of personal projects. Nicko is focusing on his most recent business ventures. "Touring with Maiden for the last 42 years has been an incredible journey! To my devoted fanbase, you made it all worthwhile and I love you," he wrote.
