“Rest in peace The Don , my brother – go sailing,” was the message with which the legendary punk rock band Bad Brains confirmed on their social media that on Saturday, the 12th, their original vocalist and co-founder Sid McCray passed away last Thursday, the 9th. The group also shared a fundraiser to help with Sid's funeral.

The artist, known by the nickname SiDMac, was in the band between 1977-1978, when the group was called Mind Power , and their sound was jazz fusion . However, McCray is considered the trigger for his bandmates' interest in punk, introducing them to the Sex Pistols and Ramones , whom they honored with the punk .

In 2017, after 39 years, the vocalist and the band reunited for an art exhibition by bassist Darryl Jennifer , and even played a song together as a band. Check out this recording below.

The cause of the singer's death has not been revealed.

Rest in peace, Sid McCray.
