Chester said the band kept Metal alive
Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda posted a series of tweets today accusing music websites of taking a quote from Chester Bennington out of context.
Shinoda refers to an interview published by Metal Hammer, where Chester said that Linkin Park was responsible for keeping metal alive . After the quote was published by several websites, Shinoda defended his bandmate and clarified the issue on Twitter. Check out the quotes he posted:
"Many rock websites are taking Chester's phrase 'we kept metal alive' out of context today. So idiotic. It's clickbait, don't fall for it.".
"He basically said that pop music was dominating the world and we helped make heavy music (commercially) viable. Nothing more to it."
"Perhaps it wasn't the best choice of words, but the sentiment wasn't as absurd as the Rock news made it seem.".
