Shinedown is officially back with their new single “Planet Zero”. The song was released to promote their upcoming album of the same name, the band's seventh studio album, which will be released on April 22nd. Access the pre-order now .
“Planet Zero” introduces the nature of the new album, which should be less cinematic than the explosive Attention Attention , but still energetic and noisy. In a statement, vocalist Brent Smith said that Planet Zero was written “for all of us” as a way of understanding that we need to move forward “together, with empathy, perseverance and strength.”
“If we shut ourselves off and allow ourselves to be destroyed by the information we consume and the way we talk to each other, we lose our humanity,” Smith wrote. “When you take your eyes off your phone, you’ll see that there are many people doing good things and trying to take care of each other. But we are beginning to see parts of our society slipping into the unknown.”
