Shinedown and Three Days Grace have continued to engage in a fun battle on the music charts in recent years, but according to Billboard, Shinedown has once again come out on top with their 17th Mainstream Rock Airplay single.
“Planet Zero” was the song that secured the top spot for Shinedown, with the track serving as the first single from their upcoming album of the same name. Shinedown had previously claimed the top spot with their 2020 single, “Atlas Falls,” but Three Days Grace returned last month when “So Called Life” jumped to the number one spot, giving both artists 16 number one hits.
“Planet Zero” was released at the end of January, coinciding with the announcement of the new album. The music video for the song premiered last Thursday, February 3rd, directed by Charles De Meyer , and centers on a dystopian future offering warnings about the dangerous, dehumanizing consequences of rampant cancel culture.
With Three Days Grace and Shinedown both having new albums in 2022 and, at the same time, being radio favorites, this chart battle should remain tied as new music is released.
Having already toured a few times this year, Shinedown is taking a break before hitting the road again with The Pretty Reckless and Diamante on April 1st in Spokane, Washington. The album Planet Zero will be released on April 22nd.
