Shinedown releases documentary about new album Attention Attention

Shinedown's new album is their sixth.

Shinedown has released a 14-minute documentary detailing the production process of their sixth album, Attention Attention . The album explores a society blinded by technology, and the decline and rise of the individual within that society.

Vocalist Brent Smith Substream magazine : “The whole album is a journey, a psychological, emotional and physical journey, and it all happens inside the room. The way the album is presented from the beginning to the middle to the end, that’s the whole story. It’s really a journey. We want the listener to put themselves in this room. I’m not going to lie to you, the room is a scary place, but it’s necessary for all of us to go in. You can’t be afraid to fail. Attention is how people allow their fears and doubts to paralyze them. They’re so afraid to try something new, just because it’s new, and that’s no way to live. I don’t think you’re going to be defined by your failures, I think you’re going to be defined by the fact that you didn’t give up, and the album is also very much about humanity, it’s about not losing that emotion, or should I say emotions, that we all have as human beings, you know?”

“It’s also a kind of warning to the public. We live in a very technologically advanced world. That’s a wonderful thing, but you need to take a break from it sometimes, otherwise it will steal your soul. I think human connection, just being in front of someone and talking, is incredibly important. I don’t want people to lose their humanity.”
