The musician promises a new Slipknot album
Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, percussionist and founder of Slipknot, spoke to NME about the band's future plans, revealing that they will return to the studio in November 2018.
Slipknot took a break from the stage, not performing in 2017. Corey Taylor, the vocalist, has been busy promoting Stone Sour's new album, Hydrograd , and releasing his fourth book, America 51.
On the other hand, Clown has been waiting for Slipknot while enjoying his vacation, maintaining the band's routine: making and releasing an album, touring for three years to promote it, and resting for two years.
“I’ll be back in the studio in November 2018. I have a lot of songs already written. I don’t want the record label telling me when I have to write. I want to write because I want to write. I’ve already made money for a lot of people. Give me that engineer and that producer. I’ll play. I’ve never heard a song like the one we’re making now. I’ll be 50 when I get out. If I’m touring at 50, then throw me a party! I’m in one of those days where I think, ‘Maybe this is the last one.’”
When asked if he was referring to the end of Slipknot, Clown replied: “Who knows? I don’t need to explain myself to anyone. I’m not going to say ‘This is the farewell tour’ and then come back. I’ll never say that to the fans.”
The musician had previously commented that he might leave the band soon and that his son could replace him. While this hasn't been confirmed yet, the new Slipknot album seems to be guaranteed.
