1,290 km! This long distance separates the cities of Bucharest (ROM) and Ljubljana (SLO). Yes, the trip was long, and we took advantage of every moment to recharge our energy. The journey was quite smooth until this morning, when we were surprised by the first snowstorm of the tour. This phenomenon is beautiful until it causes serious disruptions to traffic and people's daily lives.
Luckily for us, we caught the snowstorm as we arrived in the Slovenian capital, but access to Kino Siska was somewhat complicated and we almost got stuck in some of the city's charming streets.
Another nice touch is that we celebrated our bassist Fabio Carito's birthday on this date. Before starting to play "Ace of Spades," a Motörhead cover that we released on the European version of the album *Inner Monster Out*, we paid a quick tribute to our dear friend. Our real intention was to give him a good egging, but I believe our German friends would have been furious to see the stage filthy after our performance, which, incidentally, for the first time on this tour, had full production.
We managed to set up all the backdrops and decorated the stage exactly how we liked it. Another important factor was that, once again, our sound was perfect. Our sound technician did a great job and made all the equipment audible with impressive precision.
This quality was directly reflected in our performance, and we were able to win over the demanding audience in Ljubljana.
Going on tour is always a great joy for Shadowside. Meeting new people, seeing old friends again, tearing through city after city, is one of the things we enjoy doing most.
However, there comes a time when fatigue sets in. A long journey like the one from Bucharest (ROM) to Ljubljana (SLO), covering 1,290 km, doesn't always allow for proper rest and energy recharge. Sometimes, a long distance is too exhausting. After the show in the Slovenian capital, we felt tired, but even so, we decided to hit the road towards our next commitment: Budapest, Hungary.
Our debut in this city took place in 2010, during the tour with WASP. Our memories were the best! On that occasion, the Budapest crowd gave us one of the best shows of our career. Because of that, all that feeling of tiredness disappeared instantly. However, once again we arrived outside the scheduled time.
Our GPS loves to give us a real city tour before we even get to the concert venues. On the one hand, that's actually a good thing, since we don't always have the opportunity to explore the places where we play.
After driving around for about 20 minutes, we finally found PeCsa Music Hall, which is located inside a beautiful and enormous park. We arrived at the venue and lunch had already been served, meaning we had to rely on the goodwill of the kitchen staff who prepared some very substantial sandwiches for us. After that, we waited for the soundcheck, which again went perfectly well.
We were eager to get on stage, and our adrenaline was kept under control since we had some interviews to give to the local media. However, the contact with the journalists wasn't enough to make us take the stage with impressive energy.
Knowing that the Budapest audience is intense, we didn't let the performance drop for a single second. It was one powerful hit after another, and with each song the crowd responded even louder, and this feedback gave us even more desire to tear it up.
How could anyone not fall in love with Budapest? We hope to return soon. As soon as possible!
