Punk icons Sex Pistols plan to record new music with current vocalist Frank Carter .
According to NME , bassist Glen Matlock said: “We’ve talked about it with Steve Jones [guitarist]. We have ideas and Frank is a great lyricist. Everyone has ideas, but we’re very busy at the moment and haven’t had a chance to really work things out. Above all, we have to ask ourselves if the audience really wants us to release new music,” he said. “In the end, who knows?”
The original lineup, bassist Matlock, guitarist Steve Jones, and drummer Paul Cook, recruited Frank Carter (former vocalist of The Gallows ) to replace original vocalist John Lydon for shows in London. Since then, the new lineup has toured the world.
With shows previously scheduled for September of this year in Latin America, the band had to cancel the entire tour due to an accident suffered by guitarist Steve Jones , who broke his wrist.
In turn, John Lydon has criticized his former bandmates' decision to play with Carter. "I was shocked at how bad it is. It looks like they just rented a puppet and there it is. I really think it's a karaoke session with pretty mediocre results," commented the vocalist when he learned of the band's reunion.
