Members of the Sex Pistols are suing John Lydon for using the band's music in a TV series; find out more.

The lead singer wants to block the use of the songs in the series, as he disapproves of the project.

Steve Jones and Paul Cook , former members of the Sex Pistols, are suing John Lydon over licensing the group's music for the new TV series Pistol .

The duo wants to use the group's songs for the biographical series, but Lydon is trying to block the decision because he wasn't consulted on the project, something he considered "disrespectful."

Pistol will have six episodes released by FX and inspired by the book Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol , written by Jones, and some images have already been released – see here. However, John Lydon is against his former colleague's book, saying that "the biography speaks of him in a hostile and unpleasant way".

According to international press (via Consequence of Sound ), Jones and Cook have a 1998 agreement in which the musicians agreed that "future decisions would be made based on majority rule." According to the lawyer in the case, bassist Glen Matlock and the estate of Sid Vicious also agree to the use of the tracks.
