Sex Pistols gets a biographical TV series directed by Danny Boyle.

The series will be part of FX's programming schedule; the premiere date has not yet been announced.

The Sex Pistols ' story will be told in a TV series on FX , according to Variety . The script will be inspired by the book Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol by Steve Jones , and the production will be overseen by Danny Boyle ( Trainspotting, Steve Jobs, Yesterday ).

The working title of the series is Pistol and it will have only six episodes. The cast will include Anson Boon ( Johnny Rotten ), Toby Wallace (Steve Jones), Louis Partridge ( Sid Vicious ), Jacob Slater ( Paul Cook ), Fabien Frankel ( Glen Matlock ), Sydney Chandler ( Chrissie Hynde – Pretenders ), Emma Appleton ( Nancy Spungen ) and Maisie Williams ( Jordan ).

Speaking to Variety about the production, Boyle explained: “Imagine invading the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your friends, screaming your songs and your rage for everything they represent. This was the moment when British society and culture changed forever. It’s the detonating point of British street culture… where ordinary young people had the stage and unleashed their rage and their fashion… and everyone had to watch and listen… and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols.”

“At the center was Steve Jones, a charming, illiterate young kleptomaniac – a hero for his time – who became, in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. That’s how he got there.”

The premiere date for the series has not yet been confirmed.
