Sevendust shared a cover of Soundgarden's classic "The Day I Tried to Live" with fans . The redemption came accompanied by a lyric video from the band.
“Soundgarden is such an important band to all of us in Sevendust, and that love for them comes from when we were just starting out,” explains vocalist Lajon Witherspoon . “We discussed trying to do one of their songs, and our producer Elvis [Baskette] suggested 'The Day I Tried to Live.' I would have been happy with either of those songs personally. When I first heard it, I thought the lyrics were timeless. The lyrics are about trying new things and changing the way you live, and we see examples of that every day with what’s happening around the world. Having the chance to cover this song and release it is very special for all of us. Thank you, Chris Cornell and Soundgarden.”
