Seven Hours After Violet returned to Brazil last Saturday, the 16th, at Allianz Parque, as the opening act for Korn. The band is touring Latin America with the nu-metal icons, achieving a career milestone by undertaking one of the first major international tours of the project led by Shavo Odadjian, bassist of System of a Down – who is practically a Brazilian citizen by now.
The project brings together musicians from different backgrounds, including vocalist Taylor Barber, guitarists Michael Montoya and Alejandro Aranda, and drummer Josh Johnson. They quickly caught the public's attention by uniting well-known names from the heavy metal scene and by marking a new creative phase for Odadjian.
Despite their relatively short time on the road, Seven Hours After Violet delivered a straightforward live performance. With only one album in their career, a self-titled one released in 2024, the band performed this material in São Paulo – playing only three more songs than their last show in Brazil in 2024 during Knotfest Brasil.
They also played the unreleased track “Graves,” a new song that should be included on their next album. And it was during this song that the band asked for more energy, as they were recording for a new video. They also asked fans to send videos and photos via a QR code displayed on the screen.
The popularity is thanks to Shavo, who interacted with the fans and even tried speaking in Portuguese: "You guys are awesome." It was clear that many of those present are System of a Down fans and embraced the bassist's new band. Seven Hours After Violet is new and relatively unknown, but already feels at home in Brazil thanks to the reception that only the Brazilian audience can offer. And this reaction from the audience during the show demonstrated that the band has managed to create its own connection within the contemporary scene and among Brazilian fans.
