Just one week after returning to the stage , System of a Down announced this Friday, the 22nd, that they will need to postpone their upcoming shows in Los Angeles because vocalist Serj Tankian tested positive for COVID-19.
Both the band and Tankian released their own statements, both emphasizing that they were being cautious regarding the virus. “It is with great regret that we must reschedule our Los Angeles performances for February 4th and 5th, 2022. Despite taking numerous precautions, Serj has unfortunately tested positive for COVID,” the band wrote.
Serj Tankian, for his part, stated in his press release that he was "shocked" by the news and announced that he does not intend to continue touring for much longer. "After 3 very fun shows, I returned to Los Angeles with flu-like symptoms. I'm shocked that it couldn't even be Covid because not only am I vaccinated, but I'm also incredibly careful," he wrote.
“I’m very sorry to postpone these dates again, especially for those from out of town who made sacrifices to be here. Touring isn’t something I intend to continue doing for very long, so these shows meant a lot to me,” he concluded.
All tickets already purchased will be valid for the rescheduled dates, and those who opt for a refund will receive the information via email.
During their first live performance last week, System of a Down debuted the tracks “Genocidal Humanoidz” and “Protect The Land,” released in 2020. Check it out .
