The vocalist reveals he prefers composing instrumental music.

In an interview with the Russian magazine Expert , System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian revealed that he is tired of writing lyrics and prefers composing instrumental passages.

"Screw the vocals. I'm tired of them. During a conversation with a friend, I thought: before making music, I was known as a poet and vocalist. I wrote poetry every day. That's what I did constantly, which led me to publish two books of poetry. In fact, I went into music because of the words."

I've written so many song lyrics that it's lost its appeal. I still have things to talk about and sing about. Poetry opens you up and helps you, but I've done that for too long. Now I'm more interested in composing instrumental music.

The band's last album was released in 2005, and since then they haven't released any new material, with no plans to return to the studio.
