After the unbelievably chaotic year of 2020, some good surprises emerged amidst so many events, and for the music world, the return of System Of A Down , was certainly one of them.
The disbelief that the band could continue releasing new material after "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" was almost certain among the band's fans; however, in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music , alongside bassist Shavo Odadjian , vocalist Serj Tankian shed a light of hope on the topic after the experience of the band's recent releases.
“Obviously, we have songs that aren’t necessarily socio-political and are fun and all sorts of things,” says Serj. “I think when we did that, we did it very well. This time, it’s exceptional in that sense, not to glorify ourselves or anything like that. The fact that we used it as a weapon, admittedly, and that’s what it should have been.”
“I am very proud of what we have done. It’s a very good feeling. The future is uncertain. We’ll see what happens, the energy is very positive. If we’re on the same page, we can continue doing things, only if we’re on the same page.”
