Serj Tankian releases “Amber”, a manifesto sung in Armenian; listen here.

The song speaks of peace and unity in times of war.

Serj Tankian , vocalist of System of a Down , has released a new solo single with lyrics sung in Armenian. “Amber,” which means “clouds” and is pronounced “ámber,” features local artist Sevak Amroyan.

The song addresses geopolitical issues still faced by Armenia, the country of origin of Tankian and the members of SOAD. In a statement, Tankian explained that the inspiration for the song came from his last visit to the country, when he volunteered for the elections.

The lyrics speak of peace and unity – which, according to Tankian, are the true weapons of the Armenian people in the fight against dictatorships like those of Azerbaijan and Turkey, responsible for attacks on the territory in 2020.

“Amber” marks the vocalist’s first solo release this year. In early 2022, he released a live album, Live at Leeds . His EP Elasticity , featuring five recorded tracks, came out in 2021.
